gekkan Asuka est un magazine mensuel de bandes dessinées publié tous les 24 du mois par les éditions Kadokawa Shoten. Le premier volume date de 1985. Le papier est d'assez mauvaise qualité, dans les tons gris tout simplement parce qu'il est destiné à être jeté une fois lu. En général la série se trouvant sur la couverture à droit à une page couleur. Et dans chaque numéro un cadeau : pin's, poster, shitajiki, livret, CD drama...

Un chapitre "test" de Saiunkoku Monogatari a été publié pour la première fois dans le numéro de septembre 2009. Ce chapitre raconte très succinctement la rencontre entre Shuurei et Ryuuki et ce qui en a découlé. En cadeau un petit livret reprenant le premier chapitre, la moitié du second et le chapitre "housaku orei dai saiten" de la bande dessinée ainsi que la nouvelle "itsuka , ai ni yuki masu ~aisure do kimi wa kanata~". En quelques jours le numéro est épuisé. La publication "normale" commence avec le numéro de novembre 2009.

A chapter " test" of Saiunkoku Monogatari was published for the first time in the September 2009 issue. This chapter very briefly tells the meeting between Shuurei and Ryuuki and what rose from it.
